Most of us are running on a kind of unconscious autopilot.

We behave predictably based on our unique history, repeating patterns we never actually chose. The work is in becoming aware of how we've been shaped and learning to intentionally reorient.

Our sense of self is built around two questions we answered a long time ago:

Am I lovable? Is this world safe?

When the answer to either was no, we found ways to compensate—some protective, some costly. Anxiety. Old defenses. Ways of relating that made sense once and don't anymore.

My approach with individuals is psychodynamic.

…which really just means we pay close attention to what's happening right now, between us and within you. A lot of what's curative happens right inside the therapy relationship itself. Working together over time becomes a kind of living case study—a chance to see the template you use to move through the world.

Therapy is most successful for individuals who are ready to grow.

It won't do much for those who only want to rehearse how bad things are. I'll ask you early on: why are we here? What do you want to accomplish? And I'll return to these questions again and again. Getting honest about this makes everything else much more clear.
