When the problem isn’t solvable, and it isn’t possible to change your feelings about it, we will work on accepting it. For many problems, it is impossible to solve them, or solve our feelings about them:

Acceptance is about tolerating the situation, living with it gracefully, doing well in the face of it. Acceptance is not the same as approval. Therapy is not about making yourself like something you don’t. Instead we will help you stay present with what is, neither avoiding nor amplifying what must be tolerated. This is difficult, yes, but when practiced reduces suffering and gives freedom.

Doing nothing and staying miserable. It’s an option, but not one that I encourage. Our work together will always be geared toward helping you feel better. -previous-
