Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), is similar to Cognitive-Behavior Therapy in its focus on how thoughts and actions contribute to suffering, and how changing these can lead to improved quality of life.
The most significant distinction between DBT and CBT is that DBT also incorporates the use of mindfulness and acceptance-based practices to reduce suffering.
DBT draws from Zen, but it is easily compatible with mindfulness practices from other spiritual and religious traditions.
